Is This Trauma?

In the course of human experience, trauma emerges as a complex response to fractured realities. It’s a storm that disrupts life’s steady rhythms, leaving individuals to grapple with feelings of hopelessness, fear, and lack of self-worth.

The aftermath of trauma extends beyond emotional turbulence. Unpredictable emotions, haunting flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms become unwelcome companions in daily life. These unexpected turns reflect a life forever altered by the impact of what should have never been.

This complex force can stem from a single event or a series of events. It can also be rooted in the subtle unhealthy patterns of expectations woven into the fabric of a person’s life. These expectations could have been spoken or unspoken. Still, the result consistently leaves the victim with a sense of unworthiness, incapability, or unwantedness.

Do you have…

Fractured realities

  • Event(s) of pain and sorrow
  • Event(s) of loss or betrayal
  • A sense of never measuring up
  • Fear of devastating failure

Disrupted life rhythms

  • Unpredictable emotions
  • Haunting flashbacks
  • Strained relationships
  • Anxiety/Dread
  • Sleeplessness/Sleepiness

Feelings of hopelessness

  • Feelings of unwantedness
  • Lack of self-worth
  • Pain dulling addictions
  • Feelings of “I can’t do this”
  • Suicidal thoughts

If so, chances are you have faced or are living in the midst of trauma.

IN THE MIDST OF THIS HARD REALITY, THERE IS:

Hope for the future.

John 15:13: “…may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Movement from the pain.

Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Steps for your healing.

Proverbs 4:20-22: “…give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.”
