DEEPER STILL: Week Eight
Walk in Truth
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Reflections
One key way the God of this universe, our Creator, communicates with us is through the Bible. Our shelves can be lined with self-help books and history, but there is no greater resource for absolute truth than the Word of God.
As we consider how to walk in truth, it is essential to remember that all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God. The apostle Paul defines Scripture as God-breathed. This is vital to our understanding because it came from an infallible, inerrant being, which makes His words infallible and inerrant. The Word of God is without fault or brokenness, so His words carry the authority of absolute truth.
The beauty of the Word is to recognize He shares truth with us through history lessons recorded from the beginning of time. He was there at the beginning (Gen 1:2); He was there before the beginning (Rev 1:8). There is no greater authority over the history of the world than our God. If all the history was written for us, it would be too voluminous for us to hold (John 21:25). So God, in His divine wisdom, gave us the cliff notes to infuse our lives with truth.
With instruction, godly principles, and best practices, it has the power to change lives (Is 55:11). It fully equips us so we lack nothing (2 Tim 3:17). It’s living and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword. It pierces, even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our hearts (Heb 4:12). God has not left us to fumble through this life. He has given us a playbook that has the winning absolute truth every person needs.
With this confidence, we can glean our beliefs through the teachings found in God’s Word. It outlines doctrine, wisdom, salvation, the God-head, baptism, angels, covenant, satan, man, and even the end times. It is incredible to watch prophecies unfold and realize the inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible at an even greater level through spoken truths revealed in real-time. This should make our faith confident and urgent; the world needs to know the absolute truth of the Word of God.
How have you heard the voice of God today? Are you walking in its truth?
Prayer
Lord, Your Word is clear and concise, yet I sometimes don’t obey. Help me be willing to submit to Your instruction and equip me thoroughly for every good work.
