DEEPER STILL: Week Thirty-Two

Christ is All We Need

2 Peter 1:2-3

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.”

Reflections

God Has Already Provided

People are in a constant search for fulfillment. We long for happiness, love, purpose, and connection. In our pursuit, we often look to relationships, possessions, achievements, or status. Our social media profiles and daily conversations may even suggest that we’ve found all of this—and more.

But inwardly, many of us are still empty:
– Surrounded by people, yet deeply lonely.
– Leading others, yet unsure we belong.
– Admired by friends, yet quietly battling selfishness and insecurity.

An emptiness looms, demanding to be filled.

Scripture tells us that God has already given us “all things that pertain to life and godliness” (2 Peter 1:3). So why do we keep turning to the world to fill what only God can satisfy?

Luke 15:11–32 tells the story of the Prodigal Son. He had everything—a loving father, an inheritance, security, and provision. Even his father’s servants had food to spare during a famine (v. 17). But like many of us, he didn’t value what he had. He believed fulfillment could be found elsewhere, and he demanded more.

How often do we do the same with God?
He’s given us everything we need—His Word, His Spirit, His presence, His promises. Yet we chase after more. We seek comfort, control, and clarity on our own terms. We ignore the spiritual resources already in our hands.

So when we hit a bump in the road, where do we turn?
– To people for advice or affirmation
– To distractions like food, alcohol, or entertainment
– To our own strength—or into despair

But wouldn’t it be better to turn first to Him?

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matt. 6:33).

Believe He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19).

Trust Him as your Shepherd; you shall not want (Ps. 23:1).

God is not holding out on you. He is your wisdom (Prov. 2:6). He gives revelation and understanding (Eph. 1:17). Everything you need, He has already provided.

That bump in the road isn’t meant to destroy you—it’s an invitation. Let it send you running back to the Father. The Prodigal Son’s return reminds us that God’s arms are always open. Our trials can become a deeper communion with Him when we value the provision He’s already given.

So ask yourself:
Are you building communion with God by turning to Him first?
He has already given you everything you need.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for continuing to remind me that You are enough. Help me to seek you first and rest in the knowledge that I can trust in You.
